The property was purchased by the renowned sound engineer Teije van Geest and the cellist Gisela Reith-van Geest in 1980 and converted into a recording studio.
The ground floor was expanded to 1000 square meters and acoustically optimized. The three upper floors were converted into apartments and the basement served as storage for machines and tape material. The dry sandstone walls in the basement provided an adequate climate so that some of the tapes can still be played well 35 years after storage.
